| Kiwi fruit juice
inaugurated by Virbhadra Singh
The state owned Himachal Pradesh Horticulture produce and
Marketing Corporation launches the first “ Kiwi fruit
juice” in the Indian market. The state started growing
this fuzzy edible fruit also called Chinese gooseberry only
a few years ago. The Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, who
inaugurated the first 200 ml bottled drink in the PHDCCI house
in New Delhi. He said the exotic drink would be hoped available
in all major cities soon and its marketing network would be
expanded. European company, M/s Duke Worth, has been reported
to provide consultation and research assistance for the large
scale production of the drink. The HPMC already has launched
fruit based drinks of apple, mango and orange in 200 ml tetra
packs. It also markets juices, squashes and drinks of these
fruits in different sizes of bottles. According to report
2,23,035 hectares have been brought under fruit cultivation
in the state and kiwi fruit is grown mainly in Shimla, Kullu,
Mandi, Sirmaur and Bilaspur districts.
